Honor Credit Union’s 2024 Community Impact Year-In-Review

BERRIEN SPRINGS, MICHIGAN— February 11, 2025 Honor Credit Union is proud to share a summary of its community impact for 2024, highlighting the credit union’s unwavering commitment to supporting the communities it serves across Michigan and Northern Indiana. With over 90 years of community-focused service, Honor remains dedicated to making an impact in local communities, supporting education, and helping its members achieve financial success. 

Strengthening Local Communities 

In 2024, Honor Credit Union made 70,325 donations to 489 organizations, spanning from the Upper Peninsula to Southwest Michigan. A total of $895,197 in contributions supported a wide range of initiatives, from partnering with local food pantries to supporting community events, reflecting Honor’s mission to make a tangible difference throughout the areas it serves. 

Honor’s support goes beyond financial contributions. In 2024, employees volunteered 4,691 hours, with 3,091 of those hours spent at 225 local events. Additionally, Honor hosted 10 Free Community Shred Days, shredding and recycling 64,920 pounds of paper to promote environmental sustainability and provide a secure way for community members to dispose of sensitive documents. 

Investing in Education 

Beginning as Berrien Teachers Credit Union over 90 years ago, Honor continues its tradition of supporting students, teachers, and schools. In 2024, Honor awarded $30,000 in scholarships to 12 high school seniors and invested $117,669 in 142 school programs. Furthermore, $20,000 was awarded to 40 Michigan teachers to support their classrooms. Combined, these contributions totaled $167,669, creating a lasting impact on schools and students throughout the state. 

Supporting Financial Wellness 

As a not-for-profit organization, Honor Credit Union is dedicated to putting its members’ financial success first. In 2024, $24,846,521 was distributed to members through various programs and products designed to help members save. Members benefited directly from $1,921,443 in checking account rewards, $1,934,291 in credit card rewards, and $20,990,787 earned through savings accounts, money markets, and certificates. In addition, 602 members secured mortgages, helping them take the next step in their homeownership journey.
